Chessboxing

description Chessboxing Overview

Chessboxing is a hybrid sport that combines the board game of chess with the combat sport of boxing. It was invented in 2003 by the Dutch performance artist Iepe Rubingh, who was inspired by a concept depicted in a graphic novel. A match consists of alternating rounds of speed chess and boxing, with competitors winning by either achieving a checkmate on the board or a knockout in the ring. The sport requires participants to be proficient in both intellectual strategy and physical combat, and it has gained a dedicated cult following in European countries like Germany.
