Clara-Jumi Kang

Clara-Jumi Kang was awarded first prize at the International Violin Competition of Indianapolis, one of the most prestigious and demanding violin competitions in the world. The competition, held every four years in Indiana, has launched the careers of numerous internationally acclaimed violinists since its founding in 1982.

Kang is both South Korean and German, having been born in Germany to Korean parents. Her dual heritage has shaped her career significantly, and she has become particularly celebrated in South Korea, where she performs regularly with the Seoul Philharmonic and other major Korean orchestras.

Kang has performed as a soloist with major orchestras across Europe, Asia, and North America, collaborating with conductors and ensembles on an international scale. Her concerto repertoire spans the major Romantic and Classical works, and she frequently appears at concert halls in Seoul, Berlin, and other global music capitals.

Kang studied at several elite music institutions, reflecting her upbringing between European and Korean musical traditions. She began studying violin at a very young age and went on to train at conservatories known for producing elite-level competition musicians.
