Claudio Caniggia is a retired Argentine footballer who played as a forward, renowned for his acceleration and technical skill. He rose to international prominence at the 1990 FIFA World Cup, where he scored the winning goal against Brazil in the round of 16 from a Diego Maradona assist and scored again in the semifinal against Italy before receiving a suspension that ruled him out of the final. Caniggia also represented Argentina at the 1994 World Cup and enjoyed a long club career spanning River Plate, Roma, Benfica, Rangers, and other clubs across multiple countries.
