description Clivia Overview

Clivia is an operetta by Austrian composer Nico Dostal, with a German-language libretto by Charles Amberg. It premiered in Berlin in 1933 and centers on the American film star Clivia Gray, whose work in the fictional South American country of Boliguay draws her into romance and political intrigue. The stage work combines spoken dialogue, comic situations, dance rhythms, and lyrical musical numbers.
