Clock Tower

The original Clock Tower was released in 1995 for the Super Famicom (the Japanese version of the Super Nintendo) and was never officially localized for Western markets. It was developed by Human Entertainment. A later enhanced port called Clock Tower: The First Fear was released on PlayStation and other platforms in Japan.

Scissorman is the primary stalker antagonist in Clock Tower, a menacing figure who chases protagonist Jennifer Simpson through the Barrows family mansion wielding a large pair of scissors. He appears unpredictably during gameplay, and Jennifer must hide or flee rather than fight back. The character became iconic in survival horror and returned in later Clock Tower sequels.

The Super Famicom Clock Tower has multiple endings—commonly cited as five distinct outcomes—determined by player choices, which characters survive, and specific actions taken throughout the game. The endings range from relatively hopeful survival scenarios to grim outcomes where Jennifer perishes. This branching structure encouraged multiple playthroughs.

The Super Famicom original was never officially released in English, but dedicated fan translation patches exist that allow English-speaking players to experience the game via emulation. The later PlayStation Clock Tower sequel, known simply as Clock Tower in the West, did receive an official English localization. The original remains one of the most sought-after fan-translated survival horror titles.
