help Command & Conquer: Generals - Zero Hour FAQ

Do I need the original Command & Conquer: Generals to play Zero Hour?

Zero Hour was released as an expansion to Command & Conquer: Generals, so the original PC release required the base game. Modern EA collections commonly install the two together, but Zero Hour still uses Generals as its foundation.

What does the Generals Challenge mode add?

It lets the player choose a specialist general and fight a sequence of rival commanders on custom maps. The final opponent is General Leang, who combines technology and superweapons from the three main factions.

How many specialist generals are playable in Zero Hour?

Zero Hour gives each of the USA, China, and GLA three playable specialists, for nine in total. Examples include the USA Air Force General, China's Nuclear General, and the GLA Toxin General.

What changed from Generals to Zero Hour besides new units?

The expansion added three campaigns, the Generals Challenge, specialist faction variants, and balance and interface changes. It also broadened strategic options with units such as the USA Avenger and China Helix.
