The common mouse opossum, Marmosa murina, is a small didelphid marsupial also known as Linnaeus’s mouse opossum or the murine mouse opossum. Its range covers northern and eastern parts of South America, including Venezuela, the Guianas, Brazil, eastern Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and Bolivia, and it also occurs on Trinidad and Tobago. The species is nocturnal and is associated with forested areas, where it may shelter in tree holes, branches, or abandoned bird nests; its diet includes insects, spiders, lizards, bird eggs, and fruit.
