The de Young Museum is a fine arts museum located in San Francisco's Golden Gate Park, originally founded in 1895 and completely rebuilt with a new copper-clad building in 2005. Its collections focus on American art from the 17th century to present, contemporary art, textiles and costumes, and art from Africa, Oceania, and the Americas. The museum also features a 144-foot observation tower offering views of the surrounding park and city. Named after newspaper publisher M.H.
