Deadline at Dawn is a 1946 American film noir mystery directed by Harold Clurman from a screenplay by Clifford Odets, adapted from Cornell Woolrich's novel. Bill Williams plays a sailor who has only a few hours to clear himself of suspected murder before his bus leaves at dawn, aided by a dance-hall performer played by Susan Hayward. Set over a single night, the film moves through urban streets and interiors as the pair question suspects and reconstruct missing events.
