description Deadstorm Pirates Overview

Deadstorm Pirates is a pirate-themed arcade light gun shooter developed and published by Namco. Released in 2009, it features a two-player cooperative campaign where players navigate on-rails environments using large, motion-controlled cannon controllers. A mechanical knob on the controller allows players to physically steer their view and guide their path through the levels. The game was later ported to the PlayStation 3 as part of a compilation.

help Deadstorm Pirates FAQ

What kind of arcade cabinet does Deadstorm Pirates use?

Deadstorm Pirates features motion-controlled cannon-shaped controllers that players rotate and aim to fire at on-screen enemies across its on-rails pirate-themed campaign. The deluxe twin-seat cabinet supports two-player cooperative play and includes a built-in screen housed inside a treasure-style enclosure.

Who developed and published Deadstorm Pirates?

Deadstorm Pirates was developed and published by Namco (later Bandai Namco) and released in arcades in 2009. It joined Namco's lineup of premium light gun arcade titles that included the long-running Time Crisis franchise.

Can you play Deadstorm Pirates on a home console?

Deadstorm Pirates was included alongside Razing Storm and Time Crisis 4 in Time Crisis: Razing Storm for the PlayStation 3, released around 2010. The PS3 version supported the PlayStation Move motion controller as a substitute for the arcade cannons.

How does Deadstorm Pirates differ from Time Crisis games?

Unlike Time Crisis games which use a foot pedal for hiding and shooting mechanics, Deadstorm Pirates uses fixed cannon controllers with automatic fire and emphasizes cooperative crowd control against waves of enemies. Its pirate setting and cinematic on-rails design give it a more ride-like feel than Namco's tactical military shooters.
