Produced by Bob Ezrin, it was recorded by the Mark VIII lineup of Ian Gillan, Steve Morse, Roger Glover, Don Airey, and Ian Paice. The album combines the band's established hard-rock instrumentation with prominent organ and keyboard passages, and it was dedicated to founding keyboardist Jon Lord, who died in 2012.
