Dell OptiPlex 7010

The original 7010 introduced around 2012 primarily used third-generation Intel Core processors, with some configurations supporting second-generation chips. Dell later reused the 7010 name for much newer business PCs, so the service tag and chassis generation matter.

The 2012 model's processors are older than Microsoft's generally supported eighth-generation Intel baseline, and it normally lacks the required modern security configuration. Windows 10 or a current Linux distribution is a more straightforward fit, although Windows 10 support status must be considered.

Dell's original specification lists as many as four DDR3 DIMM slots in the larger chassis and up to 16 GB of supported memory. The Ultra Small Form Factor version has only two DIMM slots.

The Mini Tower has the most physical room and power flexibility, while the Desktop and Small Form Factor cases require low-profile cards. The stock power supply and proprietary chassis dimensions sharply limit suitable GPUs in smaller versions.
