Delta III was an American expendable launch vehicle developed by McDonnell Douglas and later operated by Boeing. It flew three times between 1998 and 2000. The first two launches failed while carrying operational satellites; the third was declared successful, but it placed a dummy payload at the low end of the planned orbit range. The program was retired after the third flight, and Delta III did not become a regular commercial launcher.
