help Dig Dug FAQ
How do you defeat enemies in Dig Dug?
Taizo Hori can inflate Pookas and Fygars with an air pump until they burst, or crush them by dropping rocks. Partially inflated enemies can recover, so continuing to pump them carries both a scoring opportunity and a risk.
What is the difference between Pookas and Fygars?
Pookas are round, goggle-wearing enemies that mainly chase the player through tunnels. Fygars are green dragons that can breathe fire horizontally, making it dangerous to approach them from either side.
Why do the enemies turn into eyes and move through dirt?
Enemies enter a ghostlike state when they leave established tunnels to pursue Dig Dug directly through the soil. They become solid again after reaching an open passage, where they can once more be pumped or crushed.
What happens when only one enemy remains in Dig Dug?
The final enemy usually attempts to escape through the upper-left corner instead of continuing the fight. The round ends if it gets away, although the player can intercept it for additional points.
