Dog Point Vineyard

Dog Point Vineyard was co-founded in 2002 by James Healey and Ivan Sutherland, both of whom previously worked at Cloudy Bay, one of Marlborough's most internationally recognized wineries. Sutherland had served as Cloudy Bay's viticulturist while Healey was chief winemaker before they left to establish their own premium label.

Dog Point is best known for its Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc, widely regarded as one of New Zealand's premium expressions of the variety. The winery also produces a highly regarded Chardonnay and a Pinot Noir from its vineyards in the Brancott and Wairau valleys of Marlborough's South Island.

Section 94 is Dog Point's alternative-style Sauvignon Blanc, fermented with wild yeasts and aged in older French oak barrels rather than stainless steel tanks. This winemaking approach gives it a richer, more textured, and complex profile that stands apart from the standard tank-fermented Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc template.

Dog Point's vineyards are situated in the Marlborough region on New Zealand's South Island, with plantings concentrated in the Brancott Valley and the Wairau Valley. These sites benefit from the region's long, cool growing season and ancient alluvial soils that contribute to the intense aromatics for which Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc is known.
