DragonBox Algebra 5+

Despite the name implying it is for 5-year-olds, DragonBox Algebra 5+ is designed for children aged 5 to 12. It utilizes a system of visual matching and isolation to teach young children the fundamental mechanics of algebraic equation solving.

The game was developed by the Norwegian studio WeWantToKnow and released in 2012. It was created by a former math teacher who wanted to make learning mathematics intuitive and engaging for young children.

Initially, the game does not use any numbers or text, relying entirely on visual representations of monsters and cards to teach the logic of balancing equations. As the player progresses through the game's 200 levels, dice and actual numbers are slowly introduced, bridging the gap between the game mechanics and standard mathematics.

DragonBox Algebra 5+ is available on iOS, Android, and Windows platforms. It is primarily sold as a mobile app rather than a traditional PC game, making it easily accessible for tablet use in educational settings.
