Eddie "Lockjaw" Davis was an American jazz tenor saxophonist who lived from 1922 to 1986. Known for a forceful, blues-inflected tone, he worked across swing, hard bop, soul jazz, and organ-combo settings, including prominent collaborations with organist Shirley Scott. He also co-led a celebrated two-tenor group with Johnny Griffin, producing recordings built around the contrast and interplay between their distinct saxophone styles.
