description Electra Overview

Electra is a 1962 Greek film adaptation of Euripides’ play, directed by Michael Cacoyannis. It features Irene Papas as Elektra and Giannis Fertis as Orestes, marking the beginning of Cacoyannis's series of films based on ancient Greek tragedies. The movie was released before subsequent installments in the trilogy, *The Trojan Women* and *Iphigenia*.
