The standard Ergotron LX is generally not recommended for large ultrawide monitors exceeding 34 inches because they often exceed the 20-pound weight limit and leverage capacity. While the arm can physically hold a VESA-adapted iMac, the sheer weight of all-in-one desktops requires Ergotron's specific Heavy Duty variant. Using an unsupported monitor can cause the gas spring to fail or the arm to permanently droop.

You can adjust the tension using an included hex key (Allen wrench) to tune the internal gas spring mechanism to the exact weight of your specific monitor. If your monitor is drooping or drifting downward over time, you turn the adjustment screw clockwise to increase the resistance.
