Eric Cantona

Éric Cantona is best remembered for his time with Manchester United, where he won four Premier League titles in five years. Before joining Manchester United, he played for rival club Leeds United, helping them win the old First Division title. He also played for French clubs like Marseille and Auxerre earlier in his career.

Cantona is famous for helping usher in an era of dominance for Manchester United under manager Sir Alex Ferguson. He was known for his incredible technical skill, vision, and iconic popped collar. He is often credited as the final puzzle piece that turned United into the dominant force of the 1990s.

In January 1995, Cantona infamously launched a 'kung-fu' kick into the crowd at a Crystal Palace fan who had verbally abused him. He was subsequently banned from football for nine months and sentenced to community service. The incident remains one of the most infamous moments in English football history.

Following his shock retirement from professional football in 1997 at the age of 30, Cantona pursued a successful career as a French actor. He has appeared in numerous French and English-language films. He also had a brief stint playing beach soccer for his national team.
