Erra - Drift

Erra released Drift on October 14, 2016, through Sumerian Records. It is the third studio album by the Birmingham, Alabama-based progressive metalcore band. The album helped establish them as a leading force in the modern, technical metalcore scene.

The album features Ian Eubanks on unclean vocals and Jesse Cash on clean vocals and guitar. This lineup configuration was highly praised for its tight musicianship and the seamless blending of harsh and melodic vocal styles. Jesse Cash's vocal production on the record also drew widespread acclaim.

The 2016 album is a prime example of progressive metalcore, noted for combining technically intricate, upbeat guitar work with melodic, ambient atmospheric passages. It highlights the band's precise, polyrhythmic playing style, which is heavily influenced by djent. The sweeping guitar leads on tracks like "Luminescence" are a hallmark of this sound.

The album was produced by Jesse Cash, the band's own clean vocalist and guitarist, alongside multi-instrumentalist and producer Brette Ciamarra. They recorded the record at Graphic Nature Audio. This hands-on approach allowed the band to perfectly capture their highly polished, tech-heavy sound.
