The Étoile de Bessèges, also called the Tour du Gard, is a French professional road cycling stage race held around Bessèges and other towns in the Gard department. Roland Fangille created it in 1971 as a one-day event, and it became a multi-stage race in 1974. Its early-February position in the calendar makes it a season-opening event for riders and teams preparing for European road racing.
