European Skipper

description European Skipper Overview

The European skipper, Thymelicus lineola, is a small butterfly in the skipper family Hesperiidae and the subfamily Hesperiinae. It is native to Europe and parts of Asia, where its caterpillars feed mainly on grasses. The species was introduced accidentally to North America near London, Ontario, around 1910 and subsequently expanded across broad areas of Canada and the United States.
