description First Arm Overview
First Arm is an inner branch of Dusky Sound in Fiordland, New Zealand. It was charted during Captain James Cook's 1773 voyage, when his expedition surveyed parts of the sound and surrounding coastline. The arm lies within a remote landscape of forested mountains, sheltered salt water, and glacially shaped valleys, with access primarily by boat rather than by road.
