Flint Rasmussen

Before his entertainment career took off, Rasmussen worked as a high school math teacher and football coach in his native Montana. He performed at rodeos on weekends before the demand for his act grew enough to make it a full-time job. He often credits his teaching background with shaping his sense of comic timing and crowd control.

Rasmussen was the primary in-arena entertainer and barrelman for the PBR's elite Built Ford Tough Series (later the Unleash The Beast series) for roughly two decades, beginning in the late 1990s and continuing through his retirement in 2018. He also worked the National Finals Rodeo (NFR) in Las Vegas multiple times. His athleticism—backflips and choreographed routines—set him apart from traditional barrelmen.

Rasmussen's act is built around high-energy athleticism—back handsprings, flips off the barrel, and a heavily scripted comedic routine—rather than the older model of clowning that focused mainly on distracting bulls to protect fallen riders. He regularly used wireless microphones and pop-music cues, turning the barrelman slot into a scripted performance. That format became a template that younger PBR entertainers have followed.

Rasmussen was born and raised in Havre, a small town on the high plains of north-central Montana. He later lived in Choteau, Montana, during much of his rodeo career. He has frequently credited the small-town Northern Rockies culture with shaping his work ethic and his brand of humor.
