Focal Clear

The Focal Clear utilizes an inverted aluminum-magnesium M-shaped dome driver, engineered to produce a highly dynamic, transparent, and balanced sound signature. This proprietary driver design allows the French audio company to deliver impactful bass and precise transient response from an open-back, over-ear housing.

Both headphones are designed by Focal, but the Clear is positioned as a premium step up with a slightly warmer sound profile and different aesthetic finishes. The Elex, often sold through Drop, features a more neutral sound signature and a detachable cable system designed to appeal to the enthusiast market.

With an impedance of 55 ohms and a high sensitivity rating, the Focal Clear is noticeably easier to drive than higher-end models like the Sennheiser HD 800S, sounding great even on dedicated portable DACs. However, using a quality dedicated amplifier will still yield tighter bass and better overall dynamics.

The Focal Clear comes packaged in a luxurious presentation box that includes a high-quality, lockable carrying case and two distinct high-resolution cables. Buyers also get two sets of connectors, a 1/4-inch jack and a 4-pin XLR balanced cable, to accommodate different amplifier setups right out of the box.
