description Førdefjorden Overview
Førdefjorden is a fjord in Vestland county, western Norway, about 36 kilometres long and up to 400 metres deep. It was designated a national salmon fjord in 2007 because the salmon rivers Nausta and Jølstra flow into it. The fjord has also been the focus of environmental and legal disputes over the Engebø rutile project and proposed disposal of mine tailings in its waters.
