description Forest Hills Stadium Overview
Forest Hills Stadium is an outdoor venue in the Forest Hills neighborhood of Queens, New York City, built in 1923 as the home of the U.S. National Championships tennis tournament, now known as the US Open. The horseshoe-shaped stadium, with a capacity of approximately 14,000, hosted the tournament on grass and later on clay and hard courts until the event moved to Flushing Meadows in 1978. The site, located at the West Side Tennis Club, also hosted concerts by the Beatles and other major acts in the 1960s and 1970s.
After a period of decline, the stadium was renovated and reopened in 2013 as a concert venue.
