Forever (2014)

Forever follows Dr. Henry Morgan, a New York City medical examiner played by Ioan Gruffudd, who is secretly immortal—every time he dies, he returns to life in a nearby body of water. He uses his accumulated knowledge of death and forensics, gathered over more than two centuries, to help solve criminal cases while searching for an explanation for his condition.

ABC cancelled Forever after its single 22-episode season in 2015, citing ratings that declined over the course of the 2014–2015 broadcast run. Fan campaigns pushed for another network or streaming platform to pick up the series, but no second season was ever produced.

The cast includes Judd Hirsch as Abe, Henry's confidant who knows his secret, and Alana de la Garza as Detective Jo Martinez, his police partner. The ensemble also featured Lorraine Toussaint in a recurring role, rounding out the core investigative dynamic of the series.

Forever was created as an original television concept by Matthew Miller, not adapted from a comic book or novel series. The show combined police procedural elements with a fantasy premise similar in theme to other immortal-character series like Highlander, but its forensic-investigator framing was distinct to this ABC production.
