description Forge Overview

Forge is a 2010 historical novel by Laurie Halse Anderson and the second book in the Seeds of America trilogy. Set during the winter of 1777-1778 at Valley Forge, it continues the story of Isabel, an enslaved girl who has escaped bondage, and Curzon, a formerly enslaved young man serving with the Continental Army. The novel examines slavery, military life, hunger, and the meaning of freedom during the American Revolution.
