Frank Morgan

description Frank Morgan Overview

Frank Morgan was an American jazz alto saxophonist whose career was marked by early promise and a prolonged hiatus due to drug-related incarcerations spanning much of the 1960s and 1970s. The son of guitarist Stanley Morgan, he initially modeled his playing after Charlie Parker but developed into a distinctive bebop voice. Following his release, Morgan launched a critically acclaimed comeback in the 1980s, recording extensively for labels like Contemporary Records and performing with prominent peers such as Kenny Burrell and McCoy Tyner.
