Galaxaura rugosa

description Galaxaura rugosa Overview

Galaxaura rugosa is a species of calcareous red alga in the family Galaxauraceae. It occurs in tropical and subtropical marine environments and forms branched structures whose surfaces are described as rough. Like other calcareous red algae, it incorporates calcium carbonate into parts of its structure, which gives the plant a firmer texture than many noncalcified seaweeds. It is a marine reef-associated alga, not a flowering plant or land plant.
