Who was the founder of General Electric?

The company was formed in 1892 following a merger orchestrated by Thomas Edison and his investor, J.P. Morgan. It was created by combining the Edison General Electric Company and the Thomson-Houston Electric Company.

GE no longer directly owns its appliance division, having sold a majority stake to the Chinese multinational company Haier in 2016. The division continues to operate as GE Appliances and still produces refrigerators and washing machines in Louisville, Kentucky.
