Reserve costs are paid by placing cards from your hand face down into the Memory zone. Cards with memory costs then banish cards from Memory at random, making resource timing a major part of the strategy. Each player controls a champion, while the Material Deck holds champion and regalia cards that support that character's progression. The official beginner guide treats the champion as the center of the game rather than as an ordinary unit in the main deck.
