Guanziling Hot Springs

Guanziling Hot Springs in Tainan is one of the world's few natural mud hot springs, distinguished by its therapeutic gray mineral mud rather than clear water. It also features an adjacent burning gas spring where natural gas has been continuously ignited for decades.

The gray mineral mud at Guanziling is believed to have therapeutic properties for skin conditions and joint pain. Many visitors apply the mud directly to their skin as part of the traditional bathing experience at local hotels and resorts.

Guanziling is frequently cited as one of very few natural mud hot springs in the world, often grouped alongside Italy's Lago di Levico and Japan's Beppu. While the exact count varies by classification, Guanziling's mud composition makes it globally rare.

Guanziling Hot Springs is located in the Baihe District of Tainan, roughly an hour's drive from central Tainan City. It is situated in a mountainous area that has been a hot spring destination since the Japanese colonial era.
