Gucci Mane's real name is Radric Delantic Davis, a name he used long before adopting his famous stage moniker. He was born in Birmingham, Alabama, but later moved to Atlanta, Georgia, where he developed his iconic Southern trap sound. The stage name 'Gucci Mane' was reportedly inspired by his childhood nickname, 'Gucci Man.'

Gucci Mane is the founder and CEO of the highly influential independent record label 1017 Records, originally established in 2007. The label, pronounced 'ten seventeen,' was created under the Warner Bros. Records umbrella and has been instrumental in launching trap music into the mainstream. It has famously signed breakout artists like Young Thug, Waka Flocka Flame, and Pooh Shiesty.

Gucci Mane released his official debut studio album, 'Trap House,' in 2005 under the independent Big Cat Records label. The album was a massive underground success, famously peaking at number 20 on the Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. Its hit title track, featuring Young Jeezy, is widely credited with helping to define the modern trap subgenre.

In the late 2000s and early 2010s, Gucci Mane became one of the most prolific figures in hip-hop history by releasing an unprecedented number of free mixtapes. He collaborated with legendary Atlanta producers like Zaytoven and Mike WiLL Made-It, flooding the streets with raw, unfiltered tracks that bypassed traditional radio. This relentless output built him a massive, dedicated cult following.
