Gyromancer

description Gyromancer Overview

Gyromancer is a puzzle role-playing video game developed through a collaboration between Square Enix and PopCap Games and released in 2009. Its battles use a variant of the gem-rotating system from Bejeweled Twist: players rotate groups of jewels to make matches, charge allied monsters and attack enemies. Exploration, creature development and mission objectives add role-playing structure to the tile-matching combat.

help Gyromancer FAQ

When and where was Gyromancer released?

Square Enix and PopCap Games released Gyromancer on November 18, 2009. It appeared on Xbox 360 through Xbox Live Arcade and on Windows through Steam.

How does the jewel mechanic in Gyromancer work?

Instead of swapping single jewels, the player rotates a group of four jewels, using the system developed for PopCap's Bejeweled Twist. Matching three or more colors charges attacks and other battle effects.

What role-playing elements does Gyromancer include?

The player travels through an enchanted forest map, fights monsters, and uses summoned creatures in puzzle battles. Monsters gain experience and power while the story unfolds through cutscenes.

Is Gyromancer based on Bejeweled Twist or a standard match-three game?

Its battle system is specifically based on Bejeweled Twist, not the ordinary swap-and-match format of the original Bejeweled. Square Enix added a monster-collecting RPG layer around PopCap's rotating-jewel mechanic.
