Helena Sukova

Sukova won fourteen Grand Slam doubles titles across women's and mixed doubles throughout her career in the 1980s and early 1990s. Her success spanned all four major tournaments, showcasing her versatility across different court surfaces.

Despite reaching four Grand Slam singles finals, including at the Australian Open and the US Open, Sukova did not win a major singles championship. She is recognized as one of the strongest players of her era never to capture a singles Slam title.

Sukova won major titles with several partners, most notably alongside Jana Novotna, with whom she formed one of the dominant doubles teams of the late 1980s. She also captured mixed doubles titles with partners including Stefan Edberg and Todd Woodbridge.

The tall Czech was known for her powerful serve-and-volley game, which made her particularly effective on fast surfaces like grass. Her reach at the net was a significant asset in doubles, contributing to her sustained success in the discipline throughout the 1980s.
