description Hessle Overview

Hessle is an H5 ordinary chondrite meteorite that fell near Hessle in Uppsala County, Sweden, on January 1, 1869. The event produced a shower of stones over a broad area and was observed by numerous witnesses, allowing many individual fragments to be recovered. As an equilibrated ordinary chondrite, Hessle records thermal processing within its parent asteroid while retaining the basic silicate and metal composition typical of H-group meteorites.
