Hideyo Noguchi was a prominent Japanese-American bacteriologist who conducted influential medical research at the Rockefeller Institute in the early 20th century. He is best remembered for his extensive work investigating the causative agents of syphilis, as well as his immunological research into yellow fever. Tragically, his dedication to understanding infectious tropical diseases resulted in his death from yellow fever in 1928 while conducting field research in Accra, Ghana.
