Shōhō was a light aircraft carrier of the Imperial Japanese Navy that served during the early Pacific War. Originally constructed as a submarine support ship, she was later converted into a carrier and joined the Japanese operation surrounding Port Moresby. American carrier aircraft sank Shōhō on 7 May 1942 during the Battle of the Coral Sea, making her the first Japanese aircraft carrier lost in World War II.
