What is HPE XP Continuous Access?
HPE XP Continuous Access is an array-based remote replication technology for HPE XP storage systems. It keeps a remote copy of data so operations can continue or be restored after a primary-site outage.
Does HPE XP Continuous Access use synchronous replication?
Depending on the configuration, XP Continuous Access supports synchronous and asynchronous remote-copy modes. Synchronous operation is more demanding because the remote array must acknowledge writes within the design's distance and latency limits.
Is HPE XP Continuous Access a VMware-only product?
No. It is a storage-array replication feature that can protect data used by VMware and other enterprise workloads. VMware recovery still requires compatible host, datastore, and orchestration procedures.
What is the difference between Continuous Access and a normal backup?
Continuous Access maintains a replicated storage copy, often with much shorter recovery-point gaps than periodic backups. It does not eliminate the need for backups because replicated corruption or deletion can also reach the remote copy.
