The Hulunbuir Steppe is a vast grassland region in the Hulunbuir Prefecture of Inner Mongolia, northeastern China. It spans approximately 250,000 square kilometers and is one of the largest remaining grassland ecosystems in the world. The region is inhabited by Mongolian pastoralists who maintain traditional nomadic herding practices, grazing cattle, sheep, and horses. Hulun Lake, one of China's largest freshwater lakes, lies within the steppe and supports populations of migratory birds and grassland wildlife.
