The entire pack is constructed from Dyneema Composite Fabric (DCF), which is completely waterproof and incredibly strong. This specialized material is primarily used in high-end sailing and military applications, offering an unmatched strength-to-weight ratio for backpackers.

No, unlike many ultralight packs, the Windrider 40 utilizes a removable internal aluminum stay to provide rigid structural support. This design choice allows it to comfortably carry heavier loads up to 40 or 50 pounds without the pack sagging.

Because Dyneema fabric has absolutely zero stretch, you have to pack items neatly rather than just stuffing them in. Heavier gear should be placed closest to your spine to maintain the center of gravity, and you must roll the top down tightly at least three times to ensure a watertight seal.

The bottom of the pack is made from a tougher 375-denier Dyneema to withstand abrasion on rocks and rough ground. However, prolonged scraping against branches or sharp granite can eventually puncture the thinner side panels, so some care must be taken off-trail.
