inov-8 Trailfly V2

The Trailfly V2 features a 6mm heel-to-toe drop, in line with inov-8's philosophy of promoting a more natural foot strike while still providing cushioning for longer efforts. This is lower than the 8–10mm drop found in many mainstream trail shoes from brands like Brooks or ASICS.

inov-8's FriXion® rubber compounds are engineered for trail grip, with different formulations for varying surface types. Like all sticky rubber outsoles, the Trailfly V2's FriXion rubber will wear faster on highly abrasive surfaces like pavement or sharp scree than harder rubber compounds.

The Trailfly V2 is marketed as a max-cushioned trail shoe designed for long distances and ultra-endurance events. The combination of WaveLight™ foam and a durable upper aims to provide comfort over multi-hour efforts, though individual fit and cushioning preferences vary widely among ultra runners.

The Trailfly V2 represents inov-8's more cushioned, protective end of the spectrum compared to models like the Bare-XF or Mudclaw, which prioritize ground feel and aggressive grip over plush cushioning. Runners coming from Hoka or Altra maximalist shoes will find the Trailfly V2 a more familiar ride than inov-8's zero-drop minimalist options.
