International Go Tournament

Players compete in the ancient board game Go by placing black and white stones on a grid and trying to control more territory than their opponent. Strong events commonly use timed games, formal pairings, and rules for captures, ko, resignation, and scoring.

The organizer normally supplies a Go board, stones, and a clock, although players may bring their own approved equipment. You generally need a registered player name, a playing-strength rating or rank, and the entry fee listed by the organizer.

A game is decided by territory and captured stones under the ruleset used by the event, with a komi advantage usually given to White. Tournament standings may then use wins, points, and tiebreak rules published in the competition regulations.

Some events run online rounds through services such as KGS, OGS, or Fox, while others require in-person play. The platform, time zone, camera rules, and anti-cheating requirements depend on the specific tournament organizer.
