Jack Pearl was an American vaudeville and radio comedian best known for playing Baron Munchausen, a boastful teller of extravagant and implausible stories. The character became nationally familiar through radio during the early 1930s and was associated with the recurring response, "Vas you dere, Sharlie?" Pearl also brought the persona to film, making his work relevant to the transition from stage variety entertainment to network radio comedy.
