Jacques Heim

description Jacques Heim Overview

Jacques Heim was a prominent French fashion designer and couturier who managed the Parisian fashion house Maison Heim from the 1920s through the 1960s. He is widely recognized for his significant contributions to resort wear and swimwear, most notably commercializing a two-piece bathing suit named the "Atome" in 1946. Although mechanic Louis Réard coined the term "bikini" shortly after, Heim famously marketed his design by flying a plane over the French Riviera to advertise it as the world's smallest bathing suit. His fashion house was also highly regarded for its furs and ready-to-wear collections.
