Jordi Savall is a Catalan conductor and virtuoso of the viola da gamba who has been instrumental in the revival of early and historical music. In 1974, he founded the ensemble Hespèrion XX, later known as Hespèrion XXI, which focuses on Renaissance and Baroque repertoire. He further expanded his scope by establishing La Capella Reial de Catalunya and Le Concert des Nations. Through his ensembles and his record label Alia Vox, Savall has brought historically informed performances to global audiences.
