Jurassic World

The primary antagonist dinosaur in Jurassic World is the Indominus rex, a genetically engineered hybrid created by splicing together DNA from a T. rex with several other species, including cuttlefish and tree frog genes. The Indominus rex escapes its enclosure and goes on a rampage across Isla Nublar, leading to the park's collapse. The film also features trained Velociraptors and a Mosasaurus.

Jurassic World is set twenty-two years after the events of the 1993 original and functions as a direct sequel that largely stands on its own. However, several references and emotional beats land better if you have seen Jurassic Park, since the story revisits the same island of Isla Nublar. The character of Dr. Henry Wu, played by B.D. Wong, also returns from the original film.

Jurassic World was directed by Colin Trevorrow and released in 2015 by Universal Pictures. It stars Chris Pratt as Owen Grady, a Velociraptor trainer, and Bryce Dallas Howard as Claire Dearing, the park's operations manager. The film became one of the highest-grossing movies of all time.

Jurassic World is rated PG-13 by the MPAA for intense sequences of science-fiction violence and peril, along with some brief language. The Indominus rex attacks and several character deaths are intense and could frighten children under 10 or 11. Many parents consider it appropriate for pre-teens and older, similar to the original 1993 Jurassic Park.
